thread dyed green string through a knitted cap or a piece of stocking

controlfreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaky2 · 06/11/2006 21:33

green tight legs, stuffed with... something... and er attached... somehow?

VeniVidiVickiQV · 06/11/2006 21:33

Can you dye a mophead green?

Moomin · 06/11/2006 21:33

Him ? Blimey you don't do things by half do you?! Wouldnt know where to start - somebody clever will though...

VeniVidiVickiQV · 06/11/2006 21:34

or, the green tights stuffed and also threaded with a portion of metal coathanger to bend it in the right shape....(not sure how safe that would be even with wire inside the tights)

controlfreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaky2 · 06/11/2006 21:35

like your thinking vvv

VeniVidiVickiQV · 06/11/2006 21:35

Cut out the individual 'shells' of an eggbox for barnacles....

VeniVidiVickiQV · 06/11/2006 21:37

The huge claw....cut out a bit of cardboard in the right shape if it needs padding out....tights again

AitchTwoOh · 06/11/2006 21:39

do you know anyone with a pair of those lobster oven gloves, to use for the hands?

kittywits · 06/11/2006 21:43

Wow, you lot are so fab.
I must say my heart sank when he asked me

Gosh mine would too! But it's easy to think when you are not under pressure.

You have to take a photo and stick it on member profiles when done

kittywits · 06/11/2006 21:58

ok

paper mache will make a lobster claw - make a thick plait of the green string or fluffy green wool and then thread the plait through with florists wire - then you can bend it into any shape.

kittywits · 06/11/2006 22:03

Thanks cool mama, but how to attatch the said tentacles to his face ?

OP posts:
Coolmama · 06/11/2006 22:06

piece of stocking over his head and then cut space for the face - almost like a balaclava - then sow or thread tentacles on.

kittywits · 06/11/2006 22:08

I know , how about he has the top of some tights over his head, like a bank robber, then could make tentacles out of the legs of other pairas of tights, thread florists wire through them and sew them onto the gusset going over his head? Would that work?

I say give it a bash and see what happens

AitchTwoOh · 06/11/2006 22:26

i think if you can get a real balaclava it might be a bit stronger to attach things to, my worry with tights is that they would be too stretchy. what about old ties for the tentacles? if you had loads of them sewn on it could look good.

AitchTwoOh · 06/11/2006 22:29

actually, thinking further along the tie thing... i would get some cheap fabric and cut it into tentacles then sew on. you could mix the fabric (by all means fold long thin strips over, sweing maching up one side then turn inside out for real tentacle roundness) with some cheapy rubber snakes from the pound shop.
