Independent schools in Hertfordshire

Hi, my eldest daughter is in year 1 at a local state school and our youngest is in the local preschool. I have recently come into some inheritance which would make it possible for us to afford to send them to private schools. We are clueless as to which independent schools are good around the Hertford/Welwyn Garden City areas? and have heard mixed opinions. Just hoping someone has some helpful advice as it would be really appreciated.

Thanks :)

I'm posting this message in case anyone searches for opinions on Sherrardswood School. I have two boys, one at Habs in the senior school and one at Sherrardswood senior school. I am constantly amazed at what a fantastic school Sherrardswood is. It is a lovely, happy, supportive school with great teachers. It seems to be able to educate any child to the best of his or her abilities, just as schools used to do in the days before league tables warped all of our minds. It was bought a couple of years ago by a company that owns a few schools and significant investment is being made in its premises and equipment, whilst the ethos of the school remains unchanged. If I had discovered Sherrardswood earlier, I would have sent both my sons there. I wanted my sons to have great educations and to look back on their schools with fondness and great memories. The one at Habs is definitely getting a great education. I'm hoping that he will look back fondly on his school life, but I'm not too sure. The one at Sherrardswood is definitely getting everything I wished for.
