Not sure on Wilmslow and Alderley Edge schools.

Knutsford High is a very good secondary.

Thank you for advice. Do you know where I can pick up any local information on schools - apart from the local cafe nero?

What LEA is it? I'm nearby but we are not in teh same LEA. The LEA should have a website as a starting point.

The areas you've mentioned are in Cheshire. Macclesfield/Alderley Edge/Knutsford - all relatively well-off areas (high employment) so plenty of good private and state schools. The majority of my husbands colleague's children appear to attend King's School in Macclesfield. It's a massive institution which my husband's colleagues rave about - it's a fee paying school. Their website is www.kingsmac.cheshire.sch.uk/ There are plenty of prep. schools too. I'm not too sure about the comprehensive. A couple of my husband's colleagues also have children who attend Tytherington High School website www.tytheringtonhs.cheshire.sch.uk/ and they seem happy there. Holmes Chapel Comprehensive is also suppose to be good. www.hccs.schoolzone.co.uk/information/index.htm
Wimslow, Alderley Edge and Knutsford all have their own comprehensive schools and although I don't know anyone who attends these schools, I'm told that they are better than average. hth

Presumably Manchester Grammar is at the top of most people's lists.
