Perhaps we should give a little context. We have three children -- 10 year old twins in Year five (DS and DD) and an elder 12 year old DS in year 7 ("first form" in the secondary school he attends).
Our DD is a little behind in Maths (we're told by the teachers that "this is common with girls" but that doesn't mean ours should be!), she's very creative and draws extremely well (in fact we're also looking for art classes because she asked us to), but she just has trouble "getting" maths. Her twin, our younger DS, is good at Maths but has trouble with English; his teacher says he's very clever and just needs to apply himself more, but he's still listed as "below average" for his year. We think the twins will respond very well to extra lessons to help them in the subjects they find hardest, which is why we're looking at Kip McGrath.
Our elder DS attends a very good secondary, but has trouble with actually getting homework done -- he wants to spend all of his time on computer games and gets very frustrated when we make him do his homework first! We're still debating whether he'd attend the lessons (and ultimately it'll be his choice, we'll make him go to the assessment and see how he likes it).
One of the reasons we're looking at this particular company is because they're very close to where we live (a short walk from home, in fact). Also, they take childcare vouchers making the cost slightly more palatable.
Feel free to chip in with any comments you like :-) but in particular we'd really appreciate it if anyone has first hand experience of the centre in Wembley.
Many thanks.
