Abercorn School - Opinions Please, Anything Negative?

I'm looking for a central London school for DC and am so far impressed with Abercorn, however I've heard a few people on Mumsnet talk about unimpressive teachers and a very high pupil turnover. Also, looking on the website it seems that the exit results may be dropping off? Is this the case? Is it just a blip? Anyone got any opinions on whether the school is on the way up or down or staying still?

I'm looking for a central / north London school for my DC who is unremarkable academically but is emotionally sensitive and has especial educational needs (not statemented). I'd also like somewhere with lots of facilities which can offer lots of life experiences. I'd love DC to go to Highgate / UCS / Wetherby, but I don't think DC is bright enough academically.

Thank you all for any advice!

My DC went to Dwight and it worked out well - good inspection report, inclusive and international so lots of 'life experiences'

@ H4dley: do you mean to Abercorn? Yes, the inspection report is really wonderful. How long ago was your DC there? Got any comments on the strengths / weaknesses of the school?
Thank you

No - I meant why not take a look at Dwight

Ah! Apologies for the misunderstanding - I had not heard of Dwight and thought it sounded like an unusual name for a school, so I thought it was a typo Blush Now I've googled I see that it's an international IB school....... Very kind of you to make the suggestion, but I cannot imagine DC going there as I'm looking for a Prep school only as I don't want to feel tied in for senior, plus we are not an international family so I am not sure it would be a good fit, though perhaps that is an unfair assessment given I liked Abercorn! Kind of you to make the suggestion though, thanks!

Thanks CLondonMumsy - we're not international either but we liked the refreshing inclusiveness and the IB! Good luck

Wow, the fact that you are not international but chose the school anyway is high praise - I imagine it's very rare for a British child to go to an international school. Very nice that you found a school that was such a good fit. I will look in to it, though tbh, I had always imagined DC at a school which would offer a fairly traditional preparation for leaving at 13+. Thank you for the tip on Dwight anyway :-)
