Should I expect application for for primary school in Nov?

My daughter will be 3 in December. On the way out of her nursery today, I briefly saw/read a poster that has confused me. I may have read it wrongly, but I got from it that I should have received (and to get in touch if I haven't) an application form re: my child starting primary school if she is due to start in 2007/2008. Is this right? I understand she would be due to start in January 2008, so was not expecting to receive anything until 2007. Please advise!

YG's right. You'll get the forms in 2007.

Thank you - I can stop panicking now! Do you know when I should expect to get the application forms next year?

What area of the UK are you in?

My son was 3 at the end of August so is due to start school next Sept, but any child who's 3rd birthday was later than the end of August this year will be due to start school Sept 2008.

I have heard of January start dates, maybe someone a similar area will know more...

We got our form at the end of Sept, or you can fill them in online from Sept I think..

Gobbledispook · 23/10/2006 20:45

If she is 3 in December she would start in Sept 2008 (God, same as my ds3 and he's only just turned 2!!!) so you would be filling out forms next Autumn term (Sept/Oct 2007).

Gobbledispook · 23/10/2006 20:47

I think she would only start in Jan 2008 if she were 3 before 31st Aug 2006 and was perhaps younger in the year and you deferred entry. If she is 3 between 1/9/06 and 31/8/07 then she starts in Sept 2008.

This is for England.

Her bday is middle of December, so September 2008 then...weird, alot of other people (not on this site) have said it'd be January and not September as there are 2 inakes a year. I live in Hertfordshire.
