Hi all,

Has anyone got any advice for me? We are considering Papplewick for our son. We have no intention of sending him to Eton/Harrow etc at secondary as we have a great local school. However, he is excellent at Sport and the development of this at primary just isn't there. Does anyone have any experience of Papplewick who can share their thoughts on its Sports provision and success in this area?

mumsneedwine, Lambrook mention Charters in their Leavers' Destinations. Papplewick don't (well, not in the last 5 years which is what they publish).

Are you associated with Charters? It does sound hugely impressive. We had a Charters girl babysit years ago. She was delightful, Grade 8 Piano, an accomplished sportswoman and went to Cambridge. No point spending fees on her at the time (not that her parents could have afforded them)!

Both DS moving to Papplewick from September and I must say its a lovely school and their Headmaster is very inspiring. DSs loved the science dept. Elder one accepted to Eton, hence the move. The boarding facility is very good so Tino1070 speak to the Headmaster and tell him that you want to move only for three years and then go to a local comp. See, what he says. Who knows in the next three years, you might change your mind and think of one of the public where Papplewick feeds

Hi govel. I've got 2 at charters now, and had 3 others go through. Those 3 are all at University (they've all gone to Oxbridge), so I obviously think it's a good school !! All mine have done Latin, ones had Mandarin lessons and another got to try Russian. Loads of sport (my youngest is usually to be found on a minibus after school heading off somewhere). It is a comprehensive and is not immune to teenage stupidity, but it's done my lot proud.
