Lycée Charles de Gaulle in London

Anyone got DC there or know about it and able to talk to me here or via PM? My French speaking, English DC are currently educated in French system but we are planning to return to London (not sure when yet) and are considering our options. Thanks!

castles, you probably will not get a spot at the LFCdG due to desperate overcrowding there. They are building a second Lycée in Brent, which is probably where your children will be offered a place.

Well, if I'm going to be honest here, they are without doubt the absolute rudest kids to find yourself on the tube with. They all pile on at South Ken and shout at the tops of their voices in the (baffling) belief that no one else can possibly understand them. Heart always sinks if I find myself in a carriage with them.

I'm sure, like many teenagers, they are better off solo rather than en masse!

I have to agree with mimble. They shout in the street and I know without looking that it will be children from the lycee. what about a good British education instead?

also if your children are in the French system abroad and moving here, they will be higher ranked in the application process than French already living in London, so give it a try, a lot of people say it is impossible to get in but actually go to their website and study their criteria, there is a ranking of different categories and depending on your situation, you might be ahead of many other French families already residing in London.

Really difficult to get places there. I know of French citizens in lycees abroad who have been unable to transfer in, so I would not hold my breath!

Very hard to get into, yup, the kids are a bit rude (sheesh, the 24 bus to Queensway is an utter delight late afternoons), and if a child has additional needs, forget it.

Remember that London is very international, so if you aren't wedded to the French system, why not 'go native' and top up with cned if necessary?

Agree the children have no manners

Made me smile. I walk through the halls of residence of a uni on my way to work who have groups of European 14-15 year olds staying at a language school in the summer holidays.

You can always tell when both the French and the Spanish kids arrive! 😊
