hello
i am new to west dorset, and am about to start really researching schools. my daughter is 2 and a half. i know it's a fairly general and wide question, but any input would be so appreciated. i am a few miles east of bridport but would be happy to travel say 20 miles a day for a good school. could anyone give me their ideal schools, both primary and secondary, both state and private/grammar? and any links...i.e. a good continuation of schools from 4-16/18.
i would be so grateful.
best wishes

Can't really help - but lucky you living where you do! I love that part of the world. Are you close to the sea (South of the A35?).

DS is in Reception at Sherborne Prep and we are incredibly happy with it. It has a really special atmosphere and DS is gloriously happy. It may be a little far though. However, the A37 seems surprisingly lacking in traffic compared to the M25.
There is a prep in Dorchester, although I can't remember the name. Perrot Hill looks nice too.

We have been in Dorset (Yetminster) since July and love it so much.

Sunninghill- that is the Dorchester prep. I would imagine it is the most convenient for you and I think it is well thought of.

You are limited on the private sector. Sunninghill is in Dorchester and you have Perrott Hill which borders Somerset. There are a couple of good primary schools in Bridport. Saltway Ash rings a bell. Grammar school is Colyton is supposed to be excellent. In hindsight I would save some money and wait till maybe year 4 if you want to go private. Happy for you to PM me.Smile

Sunninghill does have a bus service and children can take the bus from year 2. New headmaster just appointed this week.
