Ok I have looked at 4 and chsen 2. But dont know which I loke the best!!
DS has spent a year in playschool and is now in a school nursery.
Do I choose a school that has a very structured reception and quite an academic school.
or one that has a very play related reception, very like his nursery.

The nursery he goes to is quite structured and very like some reception classes!
I am worried he will be bored with another year of play!!!

Imagine you only got into one of them, and see if you feel disappointed or happy. Then switch and see how you feel. Or ask someone else to choose, and see if you feel relieved or disappointed.

Go with your gut feeling - think where your ds is going to be happiest. I chose a smaller CE school over a fantastically academic school, and we love it so much - he has so many opportunites there.

Also, look at the heads - which head do you prefer?

my older 3 went to one of the schools I am looking at and I loved it.
The other school wowed me but was that because it was new to me?

Play is the most important thing reception age children can do. There are years of school for "academic" work, but they really only have reception year for the sort of structured play that they need. He won't be bored - he'll be learning new routines, making new friends, finding out how school works, finding our how to manage a lunch box, finding out how to look out for himself in the playground.....a year is barely long enough!
