DS2 has been invited to a scholarship assessment day, to enter Year 3. Does anyone know what the assessment entails, please? Thanks.

The website says online test on verbal reasoning, which doesn't involve maths. Any idea what it could entail? Thanks.

I'm linking to this book because it has the "look inside" function on Amazon, so you can see a couple of pages online. Basically a verbal reasoning test will be a series of word puzzles, testing vocabulary.

The one thing to possibly warn your son about is that with some online tests of this nature it is not possible to skip backwards and forwards between questions, so it is important that he doesn't skip any questions intending to go back later unless he is certain he can do so. Depending on exactly which test provider they use it is possible that the test is a reactive one, so the questions become progressively more difficult if he is doing well, or if he struggles then they will make the questions easier. So it is possible for 2 children siting the same test to have very different questions. There are also some tests where there aren't a fixed number of questions - you essentialy answer as many as you can within the time allowed.
