Ds1 is in yr 10 and we need to start thinking ahead. He is bright, a good allrounder (predicted a/a* in all 11 gcse subjects) but can lack confidence in himself, works really hard as he has a real interest in learning.Very self motivated. Not sporty. Very very strong in all 3 sciences with maths, computer science not far behind. A levels likely to be chemistry, physics and maths.
He is currently in a small indie school which has very good pastoral care and a real family atmosphere. He would not suit a pressure cooker environment.
6th form can be either state or independent but he will prob need to weekly board as we are quite rural, could reach perhaps Bury St Edmunds, Ipswich, Colchester areas daily at a push.(We are Suffolk/Essex border).
Wymondham has been recommended as has KEGs Bury. I am struggling as we are fairly new to the area and have no background knowledge.
Any thoughts would be much appreciated

The Ipswich school, Culford or Colchester Royal Grammer would be my options. The later though, expects all students to take 4 A levels plus general studies and can be somewhat pressured but is great for the hard working. Ds is currently year 12 there if you have any questions. Boarding is an option at all three I think.
