Language and literature?

Watch Educating the East End and they seem just to be talking about a 'English' GCSE

It says English Media on the certificate. I can't remember the exam board and its too late to find the cert ATM. They both sat the exam in the last 5 years or so though.

Definitely a third English GCSE. Only the fast track kids did it.

Will investigate more and get back to you.

Well I have to say I have never heard of it and as HOD for English and a senior examiner I find it unlikely such a GCSE would exist. But as I said AQA heavily sold the idea of three GCSE Eng Lang/Eng Lit/Media Studies for able students.

Scottish schools have only one 'English' as a subject at various levels from basic (level 4) up to Advanced Higher (Slightly above A Level). Both language and literature are studied.
