I don't have any personal experience but I have heard good things about Gidea Park College from a friend who's Dd goes there. They seem very happy and are a very normal down to earth family.

Usually children in Hornchurch would travel by Central Line to Bancrofts or Forest (Snaresbrook), with some going as fas as City of London.

Would Brentwood be a possibility? It looks about the same distance as Bancrofts/Chigwell.

Possibly Felsted, it has a private bus service, but I don't know if it makes any stops convenient to your new house. New Hall, in Chelmsford, has a private bus service that stops at Upminster, and they say they will consider new stops in the area.

So that's three more schools you can add to your list for investigating. Smile

fwiw chigwell also have a bus service that they keep adding destinations too. i just checked a recent email with their routes and they do have an ilford route included that goes via clayhall

My DD went to Brentwood from year 10- loads of her friends were from the Romford area (only a few stops on the train.)

Brilliant school! did wonders for her- just started at her first choice uni!

Not sure about New Hall- we were at Brentwood for a VI form open day last week for DD2- and there were loads of New Hall students there looking round and ones who had just transferred into the lower VI.

One of the girls told me it was quite snobby there and that the pastoral support was not great.
