Sixth form move for girls?

DD1 belatedly has decided she would like to look for alternatives for 6th form.
South west london day or boarding. Preferring to stay with all girls but not sure.
We had debated this before but for a variety of reasons decided against it.
Staff changes and exam results for last year's cohort have alarmed DD and myself and DH. DD would like Oxbridge or RG.
Forecast to get mainly A*s at GCSE. English literature, history and languages key but likes science too so wouldn't rule out IB.
Can anyone suggest schools that take in a fair number of girls at 6th form?

We couldn't do weekend commute easily - does it have many full boarders?

I recommend Wycombe. Have you checked they can't assess your DD even if deadline has passed?

I haven't actually. It says pretty clearly on the website that applications are closed.

Gosh def ring and ask for late testing. Indes want the best girls so always interested in a high flier, academic, sporty etc. Yes girls do join in L6th but lots of competition as lots apply from overseas. Good luck!!!!

Juggling by all means ring WA but they have a two part selection process, the first of which was in June. You might have more joy with somewhere like Cheltenham Ladies College which has just had its deadline.
I am told Headington has mainly overseas for full boarding but the weekend is from Friday night so makes a slightly longer commute worthwhile.

Unfortunately, the commute really doesn't work on a weekly basis- we tried before DD moved at 11.

Oh no, they couldn't assess your DD? Gosh most Indes test late applicants....maybe they just get too many applying. I wouldn't do Headington, mainly day girls. CLC, Downe House, Benenden...don't know much about these schools but lots of WAS girls parents told me they applied to one of these too.

Oversubscribed. First stage of applications was in June!!

CLC and benenden look good but very established peer groups. (Will look again for younger DD.)

Malvern St James? Very good sixth form. All girls. Boarding.

CLC has a pretty sizeable influx in sixth form. If she is considering IB there will be remixing of friends anyway as the IB girls spend so much time together. As I said before, it may be too late but it is probably the best of that lot..

We looked at CLC for our DD in 6th form. They have separate 6th form houses and all the girls get mixed up amongst these. This seems to minimise the problem of new girls breaking onto existing groups.

If you're looking at CLC, then you might consider Oundle, or even Stamford as not too far. Not London, but depending on where you are, the trains might work.

Assuming you are SW London and OK with a commute for day schools..
Guildford High (lots of girls travel from Surbiton/Esher/Kingston/Wimbledon - excellent train links as station is right next to the school, very academic, not a huge sixth form intake but girls who move their for sixth form seem to settle well and be very accepted by current pupils. Loads got to Oxbridge and rest all to RG)
Kings College Wimbledon (mixed but all girls are new for sixth form so works well socially)
St Catherines Bramley (perhaps a bit marmite from another thread recently but could be right for your DD)
St Pauls girls
Westminster
Downe House
City of London girls

There are truly excellent boarding schools in York: The Mount, Queen Margaret's, Bootham, St Peter's.
