Hi, I wounded if someone here could help.

DC attended forest school 4+ assessment a week ago and as dc is only 3 and very shy I did not expect much. The only thing I can not understand is the letter of rejection from them. It says your child is not ready for education at this stage?
What makes them write something like this in there letter? Should I be worried?

Please help.

Forest schools are quite fussy. I wouldn't worry. They can't say that a child isn't ready for education. Only that the child isn't ready for their form of education.

That sounds very badly worded as presumably this is for Reception entry next year and your DC will be going to school somewhere.

Also, really, a child is learning and being educated from birth so 'not ready for education' is boll**ks!

I think you have no choice but take it with a pinch of salt.

Not ready for education ( of the style and format this forest school establishment delivers).

Which may be true, its pretty robust out in the woods and children do need to be capable of doing a certain amount for themselves.

Sounds odd. I would imagine it means that they think he will struggle to be away from you and integrate as he's quite shy and younger than the others.

Yes I think a better wording would have been "Not ready for forest school" not "Not ready for education" :)

UniS I think OP means 4+ assessment for The (selective day) Forest School in London.

Not the den building and mud pie type of forest school- I don't think they have interviews. Smile

Ahhhhh. See I'd never heard of that particular school.

Within 30 miles of here there is a forest school nursery and several school age forest school operations. The nursery is very popular. My DS loves his forest school day camp in the school hols.
