Our school is closed all day on 14th October because the cleaners are striking.

No teachers, no TA's. Just the cleaners.

I'm afraid it's the dreaded Health and Safety problem

Sparklingbrook · 03/10/2014 07:33

Is this a country wide thing?

mrz · 03/10/2014 07:50

Yes there is a planned national strike. It will involve those teaching assistants, cleaners and lunchtime staff who are members.

thisismypassword · 03/10/2014 07:50

Looks like it might be nationwide, but knowing my school, it'll be open regardless! Won't cleaners have a huge job Wednesday morning if schools stay open on the Tuesday?

amyhamster · 03/10/2014 07:52

Haven't heard anything about it but knowing our head she'll probably ask for parent helpers to clean , do dinners etc

Do you know if they are going to co-ordinate their NHS strike for the same day?

mrz · 03/10/2014 21:05

I think the NHS strike is planned for the day before

Muchtoomuchtodo · 03/10/2014 21:10

Not many have heard anything then.

Yeah, I've just found that. A 4hr strike the day before and action short of strike from 14th to 17th. I assume they'll get round to telling me that at some point.

Hoppinggreen · 03/10/2014 21:16

Our school is open but all children hve to take a packed lunch.
Not sure what will happen to the kids who's parents forget though

Muchtoomuchtodo · 09/10/2014 19:32
