dd has just started reception, the school have a SALT in to assess all the children in reception (with parental permission) I think this is a good idea although I've never heard of it before. I happily signed the form as think the children can only benefit.

I've never heard of this before though, is it normal in schools these days? do you think it's a good thing? just interested...

Sounds like a fantastic idea but unfortunately they don't have it at DSs school. I'd love DS2 to be assessed.

It's good isn't it! I think they follow up any children that need further 'help' (right word?) as well which I think is great at 4/5

a fantastic idea, problems in speech in a child could be done to hearing etc , if not picked up then that child could have a miserable time at school and may have problems.

Good on your school, whereabouts in the country is it ?
