Reception starting age

I really should know this by now as I am on my third child, but I've got myself confused.

DS had his third birthday last week. Do I need to apply for him to start school next September? He currently attends nursery full time so I will be using the 15 hours that he gets from January there.

If he was to start school next September would that be full time reception class or part time nursery class?

assuming England here.

No he would be three, nearly four in Sept 15.
He would be due to start school in Sept 16 when he was four nearly five.
So you apply next autumn.

but he could start at a school nursery class in Sept if you have one available.
or you can continue with funded hours at a preschool/ childminder /day nursery instead.

Thank you SecretSpy. I thought that was it but I managed to confuse myself.

I work full time and so does DH so DS3 will have to stay in nursery until he starts school full time.
