My son can be really naughty at nursery by not sharing, listening to the assistants, throwing things, shouting and he is only 3 and half what should I do?

he'll be okay 3 is very little. did the staff tell you that?

lozzawoo · 21/09/2006 20:14

Yeah the staff mentioned it but as he is getting older he seems to be getting worse.

yes but the staff should know what they are doing to try and help his behaviour calm down ,have you checked that you are all doing the same thing .

madmarchhare · 21/09/2006 21:32

How long has he been there? How long is he there for?

lozzawoo · 21/09/2006 23:58

he is there til he is 5 so a year and a half to go just hope he settles as he has only had 5 months of it.

Bit sharing - normal
Not listening - normal
Throwing thing - normal
Shouting - normal

Of course all these things can be improved on. What are they suggesting, because really while he is there it's their problem.

What is he like at home?

Agree with threebob and wakeupandsmellthecoffee. You need to talk to the staff - if they are just seeking to turn the responsibility on to you rather than working with you, then you may wish to consider changing nursery.

It is a lot to expect a 3 yr old to sit and concentrate especially boys as they just want to run about. He may not be ready as a lot of children aren't, even at 6 and 7 they would rather run around and cause havoc.

Is there anyway he could have a shorter day at nursery? Is he better early on or is he worse after lunch (ie high sugar levels affecting behaviour).

do you have any friends with children? I thought it could be a good idea to have some children around to play and then with you watching, you can teach him how to play and share. (hope this makes sense!)

I agree with the others 3 is so young, I wouldnt worry too much
