I only got 70% as I didn['t understand the number multiplication questions and so couldn't answer them. I was good at Maths - perhaps I've missed something? I can't remember this sort of question on DS's entrance exam for independent school.

I did pass it. The original, 36 years ago.

Tawny75 · 13/09/2006 17:16

I passed the 12+ (We like to be different in Bucks)

JoolsToo · 13/09/2006 17:22

I took it in 1961 (I think!) and did not get a grammar place. At the time we had Secondary Modern, Technical High, and Grammar schools - I got to Technical High.

I think I would pass it now though

NotAnOtter · 13/09/2006 17:24

with practice - non verbal very hard though!

JoolsToo · 13/09/2006 17:24

btw - it was quite different then - you had comprehension, letter writing and an essay to write and a separate arithmetic paper including problems.

I passed 30 years ago - the last year in town to go to a grammar school. Would be lucky to get my name right now.

trinityshiftingherleatheryarse · 13/09/2006 17:41

I gave up, no way I could do that

melpomene · 13/09/2006 18:08

71%. - skipped some of the missing number questions and the money questions because I couldn't concentrate on them with the dds around. I'm not sure if I would have passed it if I'd taken it at age 11 though. How many 11 year olds have 'slake' or 'conjecture' in their vocabulary?

joelallie · 13/09/2006 18:09

It crashed me out half way through - obviously disgusted at my stupidity . I was struggling but more because it wasn't at all what I'd have expected somehow - a few practice papers might have helped . But all I can say is that I'm glad I was the first year of common entrance exam.

rustybear · 13/09/2006 19:48

I got 76/80 -but it said that was 95 % & berries got the same score & 96%!
I wish you could see which ones you got wrong!
I went to grammar school, but it went on teacher's reports I think because I never took an exam. The year after I went, Labour won the local elections in May & the school went comprehensive the next September and from 3 form entry to 5 form, but as they'd already notified the ones who'd got in, they just took the ones on the waiting list as well
