Uniform.....summer dress or full uniform?

Hi, DD starts school at 1pm, and I'm not sure whether to dress her in the full uniform, or in the summer dress. Its a lovely day, but I don't want her to feel like the odd one out on her first day........neurotic or what!!!!!!!!!

summer dress I think if you've got one. Last year DS was the only one who started in shorts. I think most of the other mums hadn't bothered to buy them at that time of year. He's been in them all this week as well.

LIZS · 07/09/2006 12:17

Summer. Very few in winter uniform today (probably newbies !).

NomDePlume · 07/09/2006 12:18

DD went in wearing her normal uniform yesterday and melted . So today she went in her summer dress. DS1&2's school stipulate that only winter uniform is to be worn, but that is a secondary school. Most primaries (state) are pretty relaxed.

BettySpaghetti · 07/09/2006 12:18

I've dressed DD in summer uniform this week.
In the playground I've seen half and half of summer and winter uniforms

LiliLaTigresse · 07/09/2006 12:20

summer dress for us too

seems to be half and half at school though

Panyanpickle77 · 07/09/2006 12:30

Having now gone outside, I've decided on the full uniform as its a bit breezy.......I did um and ar at wrapping her in cotton wool and keeping her at home, but that would be neurotic.

yes cotton wool would be OTT .. you need bubble wrap

TinyGang · 07/09/2006 13:34

First day we did new winter stuff and took photos. But lovely weather has us back in the summer stuff now

TheRealCam · 07/09/2006 13:58

Our school wears summer uniform until half-term which is eminently sensible, however it is a cotton-mix kilt and short-sleeve polo shirt rather than a dress.

Bagpuss30 · 07/09/2006 14:07

Ours have short sleeved polo shirts for the uniform in Reception and so I have just put dd in that with a pinafore and ankle socks - she refused to wear the cardigan and so we ditched that. Quite a few girls are wearing the summer dresses but I am a cheapskate and won't be buying them until next summer when she will have grown a bit more .

Gobbledigook · 07/09/2006 14:08

At our school they go back in summer uniform - some are in winter though.

Ours have to go back in winter uniform after half term.

The majority are in summer atm though.

No me neither batters. Dd is wearing a summer school dress that was her big sisters. Ah, the joys of hand-me-downs!

Bozza · 07/09/2006 14:24

I bought DS a pair of uniform shorts when he started on the principle that length was not that much of an issue. The majority of the children did not seem to have them.

Bozza · 07/09/2006 14:24

And he is wearing that pair of shorts today a year later so I was right.
