They can have a statement upto the end of the academic year that they turn 19 yrs in BUT only if they remained within education which is school based ie 6th form after yr 11. If they went onto college then the statement would have ceased.

Yes, due to recent changes, an SEN statement can last up to age 25.

The SEN reforms dont come into force until September 1st 2014. There are some questions around those where they 'run out' in July and if they will come under the new reforms. Different parts of the country interpreting it differently. Personally I think the gov will be wanting to herald this as a success so I think they will.
