School lunches

The caterers at the boys' school has recently changed from Initial to Zebedees. Does anyone else have any experience of Zebedees?

Certainly the menus brought home look interesting and tasty, but there is only one offering per day. Clearly not every child is going to like what is offered every day, so there is likely to be a large number of children on any given day who don't eat what is offered. E.g. yesterday the main course was spicy chicken. DS3 dislikes spicy food and therefore only ate the rice and the dessert. £1.90 is a lot to pay for that and I'm not happy about a child surviving on just rice and dessert. I can see problems with some of the other days' offerings, such as smoked haddock and beef chilli, so may be forced to opt for packed lunches which I hate.

Anyone know this firm or had any dealings with them?

I don't know the company but that sounds bizarre - what about children who are vegetarian, for example? Very odd to only offer one option.

I think they offer a vegetarian option, but it seems to be only for those who request it in advance and is not shown on the advance menus.

There is only one main option (unless you have previously requested the veg choice) and one dessert option. My problem is that DS3 (e.g.) doesn't like spicy food so Hot & Kickin Chicken is going to go uneaten along, probably, with Beef Chilli, with no alternative, and DS2 will probably leave any fish.
