We had to buy 2 book bags - one for 'reading book' and the other for 'library book'. They get taken in empty on the first day, and then used to bring home either a reader or a library book 2 or 3 times a week. Not allowed anything else in them, except letters from school to parent (snack, drink, etc go in a seperate bag) - glad I have the littlest one in a buggy still, so I have something to dangle all my lad's bags from!

sounds like a daft system.how many bags does a little chap need? at ds's' school they take their p.e kit in and hang it on the peg and it satys there.they send it home every half term to be washed.sounds scuzzy but vv convenient! and all else goes in book bag.

Never mind the books - the important thing is that all the vital messages from school to home get put straight into the book bag by the teacher. So don't forget to look in it every day or you will be the only parent who fails to send your child in with a teddy on teddy bears picnic day!

ridiculous.
wouldn't happen to be a private school by any chance?

bluebear · 06/09/2006 09:54

no, it's a state school

Anchovy · 06/09/2006 10:05

DS's school has taken to putting all notes home also on the website, recognising the unreliablility of small chaildren and notes in bags!

Its quite good fun as you see the notes for the whole school and can work out which class has nits at any given time

flashingnose · 06/09/2006 10:08

Anchovy, you need to get out more

Anchovy · 06/09/2006 10:14

I know

just had a visit from dd's reception teacher and I asked about pe bags - was looking forward to getting nice girly one with dd's name on it - but she said to get the school one withh logo. Poo to that! do I haaaaavvvvve to??

fireflyfairy2 · 06/09/2006 10:22

No!!!! You don't have to!!! Just think how many bags there will be with the school logo on them... a nice wee pink one in the middle of them means your dd can identify her own girly one is a sea of plain navy/green/maroon/ (Insert uniform colour)

I sent my dd a pretty bag, it's read and black and has Bratz Rock Angels on it (I succumbed to commercialism)and a bag for her PE kit with a ballerina on it she came home from school on Monday with a think clear plastic bag with her name and class on it, and said she had to take that to school instead of her pretty school bag. I asked my sister and she said No, it was for her PE gear...which means the pretty ballerina one won't be needed... d'ya think I'd look out of place using it at Uni?

hana · 06/09/2006 10:23

yes think I"ll get a lovely one that will stand out!
am comforming by getting the school book bag though..that will be enough logos in this house

nikkie · 06/09/2006 20:01

Just reading book and letters here, had too many water bottles spilt on the books !
Don't take a snack here either as they get the free fruit.
PE bag stays at school
So just a lunch bag and book bag for dds to carry
