Prep schools in surrey

Hi, I live in camberley (top end nearer nottcuts) and we have decided to send our DS to private school from yr 3 (next September).

Senior school level he will probably board at claysmore in Dorset or kings wood in bath, maybe even Gordon's in west end. My question is.... Which prep school in the area is best??? I am going to view hall grove in bagshot and lyndhurst in camberley, hawley place is a bit of a trek as I leave for work at 7am and ideally my DH leaves around 7.30-8am out onto the M3 so over that way is to far really. Are there any others? I've heard very mixed reports about eagle house but I do like Wellington as a senior!!! Oh soooo confused!!!!!

Hall Grove very good reputation.
Lyndhurst much smaller (friends removed their daughters when fees suddenly jumped, think it may be owned by one family still)
Others - Yateley Manor, Eagle House, Woodcote (boys only), then you're edging towards Guildford - Lanesborough etc though you might struggle to get a yr 3 place at some because they go straight through from receptiion.
Eagle house seems a bit variable, have friends who loved it others spoke of unresolved bullying and hated it, but may suit your ds if you are looking at him going to a boarding school later

Why Claysmore for senior?

We are about to move to Dorset not far from Clayesmore and it is the most lovely area.

How about Bishopsgate? I looked at it even though it was quite far out from us because the wraparound care was good. It might have the sort of country feel I guess you like if you loved Clayesmore? Hall Grove might also feel a bit like that although I'm not sure what the wrap around is like.

Looking at the map I think I am looking in the wrong direction for you aren't I? Grin

Lambrook. Lovely school which can help low-achievers and also win Eton scholarships. Sends loads to Wellington.

I've got a sad feeling Lambrook is sliding a little too far in the direction of a WAG school grovel. Over the course of the last 18 months the tone of the newsletter has become really smug and I see some very faketan&platinum mummies in Tesco after pickup time!!!

I would still use it if we were staying but I would keep a careful eye on what attitudes my DS was picking up.
