Does anyone know anything about this school? Is it any good? Does anyone's kids go there? I am particualrly interested in the nursery / primary section (tho would welcome any views from the senior perspective too)

What is the name of the current Headmaster / Headmistress?

TIA

An ex neighbour's children go there. She moved to be nearer the school. I know her DD didn't get into the High school at 7, or her son into St Columba's College at 7 either. So they are staying at Sherrardswood.

Mrs Lynda Corry - Headmistress

Mrs Carole Dathan Assistant Headteacher, Foundation Stage, Reception Teacher

Hi Pennies. My DD starts at the nursery there in September - we were very impressed looking around it in June. It had a great 'feel' to us....lovely atmosphere, small classes (12 in current Reception classes) and no hothousing, unlike other similar schools we looked around not far away!! Nursery looks like lots of fun, and has a very nice landscaped little garden of its own too.

Suzanneme - sorry only just saw your post. Do you live nearby? We're moving to Tewin in October.

its meant to be a very good school, i live in welwyn Garden city, and if i had the money the kdis would be going there.

my parents used to live in tewin.

and i mean it about the netball, when we had to pay them they would stamp on our toes.

Where did you go to school misdee? I used to go to school in WGC - I lived in Datchworth & went to WGC grammar - later Stanborough School.

misdee · 31/08/2006 17:49

i went to Sir John Newsom (formally the Howard and heronswood school), in the 90's.

rustybear · 31/08/2006 18:03

When I was there the Howard & Heronswood were separate schools!

Hi Pennies. Yes, we live in Welwyn Garden City, just off Digswell Road. Tewin is lovely! Where are you moving from? I bet you'll love it hereabouts. I'm really happy in WGC; it is so green and beautiful, especially around the centre. The fountain was pink for a while last year and DD still looks hopefully at it each time we're on Parkway

Hi Pennies

I have two children at Sherrardswood School and it really is a lovely school. Previous mum was right about the 'feel'. They really are lovely with the children and bring out the best in them without being too pushy. It's definitely worth making an appointment to have a look around - PS there's an Open Morning this Saturday 7th October 9.00-1.00pm.

I am off to the open day on Saturday-got the prospectus through today.

Pennies-have you been to The Feathers in Tewin yet?

not2sure · 16/10/2006 11:21

I may be wrong, but it always seems the brighter ones always move on age 7 and 11. I feel the junior dept let my child down but am told it is improving.

misdee · 16/10/2006 11:23

suzanna, the fountain was pink again last week

I am looking for a school for my ASD son and would like to know about Sherrardswood school and whether they provide extra support for special needs children and if they take children with LA funding

Thanks
