Looking for nearby primary school place

I have applied for two different school's approximately 300yrds away from my house. I am the grandparent and guardian of two granddaughters, the children's parents are living abroad unable to be in the uk. I am disabled, unable to drive due to medical conditions and cannot travel to a school offered. The school allocated is approximately 2 miles away and I cannot travel there. My granddaughters were attending the nearby school before but I took them out to visit their parents and their places were terminated. Now I cannot get the same places as the class limits for that particular year is full. I have been refused from the appeal, I have also been refused from the local government ombudsman.
I am disabled and need help to commute to school. Please could someone advise me on this matter.

Thanks.

Is there any public transport? Or can you hire someone to take them to school maybe? Sounds like you've exhausted all the appeal options.

I think you'll have to just join the wait list and explore transport options... Did they warn you about loosing places etc - I assume you were away for more than a couple of weeks?

Join the waiting list and in the meantime, ask the council if they can recommend you a taxi company to do drop offs and pick ups

The school is 1.5miles away and both children are under 8 yrs old but the problem lies with my medical conditions, as I will find it almost impossible to travel 6 miles everyday.

tbh your medical condition isn't specifically taken into account for school allocations whether the school is 2 miles away or 300 yards away. Without wishing to be rude, you travelled abroad fairly recently , if maybe with support. Your best option short term is to employ a child-minder to take them to and fro and place their names on the waiting lists locally.

I'm afraid you mr transport limitations are, as you have discovered, irrelevant to the allocation of school places. All you can do now us investigate alternative forms of transport ( taxi ? Friends ? Childminder ?) whilst getting yourself on the waiting list for the desired school.
