SPGS using Edexcel or AQA for GCSE? Edexcel is easier?

Is SPGS using the easier exams for GCSE's? I heard that AQA is harder. In AQA they want to see you have understood the topic properly whereas EDEXCEL they just want to see you be able to answer the question. Is that true?

Two things:

  1. Girls at SPGS are pretty clever and worked bloody hard, so I cannot see the school choosing an exam board because it is "easier".
  2. No-one gives a monkeys about which exam board a particular GCSE is accredited by.

Ofqual are supposed to ensure that the qualifications for each exam board are of a similar standard.

Given that SPGS gets something like around 99% of GCSE results at A or A with the vast majority (90%ish) at A, I would not have thought that understanding the topics was too much of a problem for the girls usually.
