Year 9 dd struggling with maths - online resources, books?

She's actually pretty able. But in test situation she panics. She lacks confidence. She has a good teacher who understands all this but she could do with back up at home as she is trying to avoid maths.

Shes quite bright - science teachers say definitely triple science and As at least - but as soon as maths is mentioned the shutters go down.

Ict games has a maths section. Would that be any use to your dd?

Mathletics is a good site & Percy Parker app is good for Timestables.

Maths panic is a killer and I believe kids who have this need some reassurance, ideally with one to one support, sometimes just for a short time only to re-instill their confidence. The sticky thread above about Maths doctor and online tutoring looks very interesting indeed , check that out?

Practice papers are a great help for exam fear. The more,
the better. And the Khan Academy online offers clear explanations for any weak areas.

Here are some KS3 resources.

The BBC have a good online resource here:-

www.bbc.co.uk/schools/ks3bitesize/maths/

Otherwise, when it comes to text books, then I would suggest perhaps either Elmwood Press Essential Maths:-

www.elmwoodpress.co.uk/ks3.htm

by the way you can see some example pages from the books there as well.

Another alternative is Pearson Level Up Maths:-

www.pearsonschoolsandfecolleg...elUpMaths.aspx

Another resource for online revision is here:-

www.educationquizzes.com/ks3/maths/
