Sick pay for newish teacher?

A friend is about to embark on some unpleasant medical treatment. Her doctor is ready to sign her off now but she says she feels OK to work FTB and prefers to work as long as she can, mainly for financial reasons.

She only has 18mths continuous service. Does anyone know what she will be entitled to in sick pay? She reluctant to ask the school as she's not quite ready to talk about her situation. She also wants to put off "going" sick" for as long as possible so that she can be paid for as much of her treatment as possible.

Teachers in their second year of service are eligible for 50 days full pay and 50 days half pay ( assuming she is in a normal state school and not an academy, these may have their own rules) Check tesfaq ( a very useful website!) for more information

Thanks spaniel. Is that 50 working days i.e. 10 weeks or 50 calendar days?

I've had a proper look at that link now thanks spaniel. It looks to me like she actually starts her 3rd year in April which is good news, but also that she may well have the max 4 years already. She was a teacher for approx. 10 years before being made redundant, taking a few months off and then returning to teaching. She thought that as she doesn't have continuous service she would be considered "new" but the link seems to say that if you've ever had 4 years' service you've always got 4 years' service for sickness purposes.
