Ideas/Games to learn High Frequency Words with Flashcards

My 4 year old has got some Flashcards from school for us to go through - just 10 to 15 High Frequency words like 'We' 'Help' etc.

Now - he's not so keen on going through them so I tried playing games like laying them all out and I call out a word and him or his mummy try to grab the right word first (of course his mum lets him win most of them). Then at the end they count up the cards to see who has the most and wins the game.

Anyway, he's bored of this now - any other ideas to keep it fun?

Thanks in advance

Tbh they get the hang of them soon enough, we did none of the flash card stuff and mine are great readers

We made our own cards with dds and blue tacked them to the wall (much like those magnetic words you can get for fridges) and made little sentences or attached them to a picture that showed the word or explained the idea - so for 'me' there might be a picture of dd and for 'we' a family picture.

Picture Pair card games were useful for finding pictures to match words with, and we made our own pair game by writing out the words on postcards to find matching pairs. We also used magnetic fridge letters and foam bath letters though they were probably more for the spelling stage.

Both dds enjoyed playing occasionally, no idea how much it helped but it was fun.

Wow.
Didn't know people actually did this stuff with kids as young as 4.
Sorry can't help. At 4,mine were playing and obviously underachieving in the preschool stakes.
Thankfully they all made it into university anyway.

Lay them on the floor and ask him to do a different movement to a specific card eg "waddle like a penguin to "help". Mine love doing this!

Make two of each word and play snap?
