I will be re-locating to Windlesham, Surrey. I have got a new Job in a private firm close to Bagshot train station. I have a 8 year old son and wish to know about the primary schools in this area. What would you suggest would be a good place to rent/ buy if I need to find a good school within commutable distance to my work. My job is for an one year contract and i only intend to buy a property if I can find atleast a two bedroom terraced or semi-detached house for a maximum of £250,000. It would of great help if you could assist me in finding a place to stay close to a good school. As my son will be joining middle of a term I will need to ring the council to check if they have a place for my son to join. Any thoughts/suggestions will be much appreciated.

The local primary schools only go up to year 2, such as Windlesham Infants, so you will be looking at Connaught or Hammond junior schools. I have friends with boys at Connaught and despite worries before they joined they are perfectly happy there and are lovely children.

Housing is very expensive in Windlesham, I think the countries most expensive house is there at a mere £78m. You will probably be better off looking at Bagshot or more towards Camberley, presuming that you drive. All are good areas to live. Good luck.

Thank you very much for your post. I am so new to the south of England- can please let me know where I should rent/buy for my son to get a place in Hammond junior school. I read from the school website that the location is Lightwater - Is there a specific catchment area to live in to get a place in the school?

Hammond has a large catchment area, taking children from Lightwater, Bagshot and Camberley. Best to ring the council and ask where has places as some will be oversubscribed for an in year admission. Windlesham and Bagshot are expensive housing wise, Camberley slightly better. If you drive then Camberley/Frimley area might also be an option. Schools wise Hammond (lightwater), Connaught (Bagshot), Crawley Ridge (Camberley), Ravenscote (Frimley) all good schools. Avoid Cordwalles (Camberley) as it has a lot of problems and currently going through interim heads very quickly!

Thank you for your post. I contacted the council and they can only offer place in Frimley primary school and Lakeside primary school- are they goods schools? According to Ofsted they are not good performing schools.
I'm not sure what I should be doing as I cant afford a private school.

If my only option is a Private school then can you please let me know a good value for money school around Camberley/Frimley.

Lakeside is better than Frimley school wise, locations are not near Frimley itself, nearer Frimley Green so would definitely need to drive.
In terms of private schools, you've got Lyndhurst actually in Camberley, Yateley Manor (runs school buses from Camberley and possibly Frimley) Hall Grove (along the road from Bagshot) thenyou'd have to look out towards Ascot or Sunningdale. Not sure what their fees are like.
