Eton Waiting List Entry 2014

Has anyone with a son on Eton waiting list for entry 2014 received any update on how waiting list is moving in the last week? If so, what day did your letter arrive and was it clear from the outside of the envelope that it was from Eton?

I'm not in your position, but most letters from Eton come in an envelope with Eton on the outside! I expect the waitlist will start moving towards March as that is when CE entries have to be in and also other schools do scholarships then. Good luck.

Most of the correspondence we received from Eton bore a ‘Greenford’ postmark for some strange reason. I had always thought Eton was in Windsor (Slough postmark), but Greenford (Uxbridge/Ealing)??

We always received our waiting list update letters in early December, about a week before the letters with the assessment results; that was two and three 3 years ago though.

Letters from Eton usually have an address sticker on the front, at the top left hand corner.

We turned down our offer in September - I'm not sure if they hold onto turned down places and deal with at once or whether they are dealt with as they arise. I know of several who are holding onto a couple of schools still . We felt it was best that our DS had clarity . It is a marvellous school however - good luck to your DS !

Timestables your post prompted me to post a turning down Eton thread just now as I wondered why ...perhaps you could be the first to reply on there if you don't mind me prying:)
