I was badgered into going to the school fete, you know the mums that always get involved on the stalls, the same old faces (good for them I say) couldnt be without them. I always feel a dick at these events, teachers never making eye contact and people you politely nod and have the odd vague conversation with you in the playground at the drop off seem to forget you existed at these events. I hit every stall and got the hell out of there. They have had my money but blimey it was hard work. I just didnt feel like i belonged. Weird eh!

I do think that sounds strange actually! I don't feel like that at all - everyone knows everyone and everyone is friendly at our school! Our school fair is tomorrow and I'm quite looking forward to it!

ours is very friendly loads of kids who have moved up to secondary schools, all the teachers including head talking to all and sundry.

Is it a big school ?

I helped at DD's fete yesterday. I didn't many of them either but I threw myself into it, found out everyone's names and chatted about their kids - but them I'm like that!! Met some new mums whose children will be in my DS's class in Sept and it was very friendly. Remember the teachers don't know you necessarily, although you know them so they might not be as chatty with everyone.

Can't move my arms without wincing with pain today after lugging crates of toys and books about all afternoon! (Thankfully can type - phew!).

meant - didn't know many of them!

tenalady I have to say I don't feel that at all.
Last fete I was roped in to doing a stall (normally plead 3 children) and it was great!
But when we just go round it we love it, the kids see lots of their friends, I see lots of mums I know which is nice.
Is your school very big? It doesn't sound very friendly tbh. Do you do the school run on a ragular basis? I find that make a lot of difference to getting to know people (I mean if it's just once a week it's much harder to strike up a friendship).

I'm glad you turned up. I'm one of the regular helpers and organisers, and the lacksadaisical couldn't give a damn types who don't even show up at the odd event like this really get on my jubblies
