I am making a list of things an adult needs to be a positive role model for children with regard to their emotional and social development

I've come up with
Using appropriate language
Effective and positive communicator
Empathic and sensitive to others emotions and feelings
Acting in a socially acceptable manner
Able to express their own feelings
Respect others cultures and ethnic differences
Compassionate and caring

I could really do with one more

Any ideas?

how about behaving in a responsible manner towards the environment (not dropping litter, recycling etc)?

Now I'm doing this one

Give two examples of;
· Racial behaviour
· Sexist behaviour
· Abusive behaviour
· Antisocial behaviour

Describe how you could effectively challenge this behaviour. Don?t forget to include the importance of comforting those who are the object of abuse.

Is this answer OK???
Racial behaviour

Not using suncream because your skin is brown ? explaining that brown skin can be burnt too ? asking the child if they use suncream at home
Liking Curry because you are Indian ? asking do you like curry? Explaining that not every one who is the same colour likes the same foods

Sexist Behaviour

A group of boys refusing to let a girl play football ? everyone is allowed to play with every toy, encouraging the girl to join in.
Assuming that a girl will pick pink, allowing the child to pick which ever colour they want.

Abusive Behaviour

Name calling ? explaining that it isn?t kind, comforting the child that has been called the name, suggesting that being nicer to each other is better
Hitting ? explaining that we don?t hit each other and that it isn?t kind, comforting the child that has been hit and asking them to be more considerate of each other.

Antisocial Behaviour

Lying ? explaining that it is important to tell the truth, as people will stop believing them (the boy who cried wolf)
Drawing on walls ? explaining that this cause work for other people and is disrespectful of other people property
