what level should dd1 be reaching ?

Does anybody have a clue about the levels at year 8.DD! is just finishing year nine.We have her school report which is quite pleasing, however each subject has a level (what wrong with A B C D ect !!! ).Have no idea therefore if she is average or otherwise ????????

had ds's (yr7)school teacher parent interviews last night - it is a grammar school so they set a higher level I think
he is working at 6a's in most and high 7's in maths science tech art he is also on
subjects like history geography french that they have just taken up start at a different level I think?
I have shag all idea of what the levelsmean either - its weird system of measuring attainment but I guess they have to have parameters somewhere.

It has taken me the best part of 2 years to completely understand the levels, particularly the a, b and c bit It was explained to me recently as: a means working towards this level, b is comfortably working at this level and a is working at the top of this level. DS1 is also at the end of year 8 and I'll get his report next week.
