just got ds's report

and it's really good.he's working hard at most things and acheiving at the expected level or beyond the expected level for everything.However, he apparently needs to improve his listening in whole class situations-he is too easily distracted.
how do i go about helping him improve this? he is ok in individual and small group situations but not in whole class..so not sure what i can do.he is 6 and in year 1.

All boys are easily distracted if they're not doing something physical at this age. Sitting still and listening to others just doesn't come naturally to boys of this age.

I'd just chill and wait and see what happens next year. I don't think there is anything specific you can do to stop a child being distracted. It is up to the teacher to hold a child's attention. He will only be distracted if this isn't happening. And I have 3 of them, so I know what they are like.

he's fine at the cinema.i think part of the problem is that he either daydreams or gets distracted by his pals.there are 4 of them who arenot allowed to sit next to each other.
the teacher does say that she thinks it will improve as his coincentration improves.

what worried me is that there are 3 possible marks for effort.very good/good/room for improvemment.
and speaking and listening was the only thing she gave him a room for improvement for, and as he is a chatterbox i can't see there is a problem with his talking!!!
