Personal statement for re-election as parent governor?

headline says it all really; I am up for re-election after 4 years, want to stay on, have to write a 200 word personal statement for Monday.

however at this point my mind has gone completely blank!!!! everything I write sounds trite and naff - anyone got any ideas pretty please? TIA

Set out why you are interested in the school - DC there, want to support excellent standards etc.
Some CV type info about yourself, skills, interests.
And that you have gained from the role and wish to continue.

is there likely to be much competition?

If there are any initiatives you've been involved with that have gone down particularly well, or that people might not know about, but have made a difference, shout about it!

Also, has the head suggested becoming a community governor? A few ex parent governors when I was one wanted to stay on after their DC had left, and took that route.

I've drafted something about being proud to be involved with getting good ofsted under new tougher framework, particular interest in comms between school/parent/student, and appreciation/suppport for our particular specialities and then a bit of personal stuff. with a bit of editing hit 200 words bang on!

I have been a parent Governor for almost eight years now, and am proud to have been involved in major developments at the school, including the re-development of the .......... wing, the building of the music and drama suites and now the development of the new sixth form centre and learning resources building. I have also accompanied the school through its transition through Foundation to Academy status. I feel that both my daughters benefited hugely from their time at ....., and as such am keen to continue to work as a Governor and contribute in any way that I can. The school's high academic standards are well-known, but I have always been particularly impressed by the range of extra-curricular activities available to the girls and the way in which these aspects of school life allow them to develop as strong, rounded, individuals. This is not always the ‘external' perception of ........, often seen as a purely academic school, and as a linguist turned Public Relations Consultant, I try to ‘promote' ....... as a school which aims for excellence in all areas.

In other words, even if you have not done much, sell yourself well.
