Questions to ask when visiting a potential school (middle/ high)

We're hopefully (pending house move) moving ds from primary to middle school. The middle school we pick will dictate the high school so we're visiting four schools (two high schools and their feeder middle schools). Any ideas what to ask/ look for? I know from OFSTED that in terms of results they are very similar so it'll need to be more than that.

Try this thread for a start. Also look at the Department of Education statistics for the schools in addition to the Ofsted reports. Nothing beats visiting the schools, teachers and pupils though.
