Hi dd is thinking about attending the Vetlink conference in Nottingham for prospective Vet Med applicants this December. Does anyone have any experience of this? It seems quite expensive so I would appreciate some feedback before I book it for her. Thanks.

DD went on this last year. She did enjoy it and it helped her make up her mind about doing VetMed. It was good for her to meet other prospective students and realise they are normal like her - a lot of Home Counties girls though. She found the lectures interesting and the guy who wrote the book about getting into Vet School came along and she found his talk motivational. However other than that, there is nothing really that she gained that she couldn't have done by work experience or visiting vet schools in open day. We are London based so she goes to the Sixth Form science lectures at the RA, UCL etc. She has made contacts on Student Room, didn't make any there - lot of people came with friends. The downside was also that she missed the last week of term - if you struggle to pay it is really not worth it - plus spending money, transport etc.
