Ok, daft I know but why do some indie schools insist on doing their entrance exams on a Sunday and starting early in the morning!!!
Transport links are a disaster if having to use public transport!!

no, definitely.....
non car owner = poor

meditrina · 14/09/2013 07:53

Because it's the only free day (Saturdays being cluttered with sports fixtures).

lunar1 · 17/09/2013 21:44

Better than our school, they close it for exam day! We don't have a car and they let us in.

Labro · 18/09/2013 08:16

I don't have a car either lunar, never had any problems with schools (other than getting there for the exams lol)

Presumably if you can afford private school you can also afford a taxi?

pixelchick10 · 18/09/2013 09:44

ha oh yes - some of us don't have money left after the school fees!

Tasmania · 18/09/2013 11:04

Mon-Fri = School
Sat = Sports
Sun = Free day - unless you go to church

RichManPoorManBeggarmanThief · 18/09/2013 11:54

Seriously though, if you really can't afford a taxi after school fees, don't go private. It's insane to take yourself to the wire financially.

But yes, I imagine its so that the school is free and so that the teachers who supervise the assessment can get on with the rest of their day.

DD1 went to one last year and it was on a Saturday.

Buggedoff · 18/09/2013 17:13

I would prefer a Sunday than having to take time off work to take my dd to an exam on a working day, which is what the grammar schools in these parts do.

exexpat · 18/09/2013 17:21

Round here the entrance exams are all on the same two Saturdays which means they clash with a) each other and b) all the sports/dance/drama etc which happen on Saturday morning. Sunday would probably be easier for a lot of people.
