I'm feeling stressed! Am I the only one?

No, me too! Although I think dd is ready now to sit the damn thing!

goldie81 · 03/09/2013 07:21

Yes. Don't think we could go on much longer waiting. Just hate fact that it all comes down to this test! Where are you hoping for?

Watford Girls. You?

FiveHoursSleep · 03/09/2013 13:24

Not too bad here for DD2, as DD1 is currently doing her first day at WGSG.
But I'd like her to get good enough marks that she'd get in of her own accord if we lived in the inner catchment. Or get a music place.
I don't want her thinking that she didn't do any work for her place.

goldie81 · 03/09/2013 14:25

Lucky you fivehours- but you prob went through it last time! Dancergirl- hoping parmiters or girls but prob more parmiters because she has brothers and not sure if sibling rule would or wouldn't stand when they come to get there for the grammars

Yes, I remember this time last year very well!
Good luck to your girls. The key to the exams is timing, reading the questions carefully and going over their answers again if they have the time.

Great- thank you!
Yes thought you would- shame they do it so soon after the hols!!

Actually it's a blessing to get it all over and done with. Last year we had two weeks of school before the test and the year before it was more like 6 weeks!
Just think, this time next week, it'll all be over if you aren't doing the music exam.

Dancergirl · 03/09/2013 16:51

And then it will be HBS where dd is also sitting! Exam is on 18th Sep.

FiveHoursSleep · 03/09/2013 17:37

Ah, we didn't bother with HBS. It was too far away for us and we have 4 so I liked the sibling/cross sibling back up!
I did enjoy the 11+ threads about last years exam though :)

goldie81 · 03/09/2013 19:27

Oh lucky you. HBS not an option for us. We are doing music test too though. But not as fussed about that than sats exam!

Hope everything goes well for them on Saturday.

The trick to the Maths is accuracy: reading the question carefully and checking their answers carefully.

The key to the VR is speed.

Dancergirl · 07/09/2013 19:08

Hope it went well for everyone.

Dd came out fairly happy - she said she found the Maths and VR the same level of difficulty, she thinks she's done ok but we'll see - she's partial to careless mistakes!

Told her I'm proud of her whatever the outcome Smile

goldie81 · 07/09/2013 20:52

Hope it went well for all too!
We're partial to very careless mistakes too which is why haven't a clue!!
Now waiting game for results!
Yes proud of her no matter what!

DD came out saying it was much easier than the tests I've had her practising. You might think this is a good thing but I don't think it bodes well. Hmm
We are having a crack at the music test too- just because it's there, mainly!

goldie81 · 07/09/2013 22:41

I was getting far too stressed but now thinking much case of what will be will be.
We can't change it now.
Also doing music!!
Why not??

Dancergirl · 08/09/2013 00:13

Is everyone doing music on Tues afternoon? Dd is down for it but I can't decide if we should bother or not...

goldie81 · 08/09/2013 06:45

We're doing music. Was thinking of pulling out but think will still do. Suppose you just never know.

OP posts:
FiveHoursSleep · 08/09/2013 08:49

Music is worth a try. It's a lot shorter than the VR and Maths exams and if your child has some musical ability, it's another chance.

ThreeBeeOneGee · 08/09/2013 09:04

The music is definitely worth a go. Nothing to lose. A boy we know got 33/45 by singing a rugby song in the audition. The only other instrument he knew how to play was the recorder.

sittinginthesun · 09/09/2013 14:37

Talk around our primary playground this morning was that the verbal reasoning was harder than they'd anticipated - did your dcs finish the paper?

(We've got all this to come next year!)

FiveHoursSleep · 16/09/2013 16:10

Anyone else get into the music second round? DD managed to squeak through, so she's feeling very pleased with herself as her older sister didn't manage this last year.

goldie81 · 17/09/2013 21:46

No we didnt get through on music :( but didnt really expect to.
Dd did finish Vr paper but I know lots who didnt & another who cried coz they didnt. These poor children! Too much stress for them!
