Incorrect absence recording - what to do?

Looking at my dc's school records I have found that a sickness day is recorded as 'authorised absence'. Another absence was not recorded at all. This is not the first time there have been absence recording errors but when queried school have always said it is 'a mistake'. If I am seeing lots of errors it makes me wonder what is being recorded for other children.

Let it go, it's their problem. I've had this too. What irks me is DD is put down as (authorised) absent when she's away representing the school in intermural sports events. Hmm

Does it matter?

A sickness day should be put down as an authorised absence as long as you rang the school or sent a note in telling them your child was sick. The other anomaly is obviously just an error and not worth stressing about.
As the above poster has said; does it really matter?

My DD's school kept recording Unauthorised absence when she was away representing the school in various sports teams and rehearsals for school choir events.

THAT was annoying. I had to send several emails, one to the head of year, to get that amended.

I wouldn't worry if it works in your DD's favour. Sickness absence IS classed as authorised absence, isn't it?

Can I butt in?

My ds has been marked down as unauthorised absence for 3 days (6 sessions) when I know for sure he was in school and on time.

No one from the school has contacted me - I only noticed when I had a look at the online report.

Does this have any implications for me/DS

It could have implications, Django, as I am pretty sure absence records are used in reports to colleges etc. Unauthorised absences could be seen as a black mark.

That is why I was so keen to correct the records.

DD got marked as unauthorised when she was on a school trip with three teachers
they amended it!
