Where can I go to find the average class sizes in a particular geographic area? Any ideas?
TIA!

I don't think there are necessarily average class sizes - my DCs school has different sizes depending on the cohort - DS in year 4 has 34 whereas DD in year 2 has 26 - there's just more children in DSs year. You can see total numbers on the DfE website but you won't know how a school organises its classes.

the vast majority of state schools will keep their classes full - 30 - as that is how they balance the books

private schools - it varies

Depends a bit on the popularity of the school and the 'mobility' of the population around the school, rather than the geographical area of the country it's in.

Schools in our rural area are brimming. Our infant classes are all over 30, up to 35. Not just our school but all in the area. This is due to rampant development of housing on greenbelt land with no infrastructure to match it - we also have problems with clogging of narrow village roads.

When we moved here a few years ago, class sizes were about 22 - so a little unpredictable in terms of what building plans there are in the area...

The avg class size in English state primary is around 26, maybe 27 in secondary. I can find you a reference, but those numbers are quite reasonably accurate.
