school closure

Deanes School in Thundersley Essex is facing closure due to falling numbers. This can be attributed to a number of things but most definately not the standard of the school. The school is considered good with outstanding aspects. It has an amazingly inclusive ethos, taking all children with a wide spectrum of abilties. It was supposed to have the go ahead for a co-located site with a special needs school, sharing facilities and learning opportunities. This rebuild has been promised for 5 years and had gone along way down the planning. It was told completely unexpectedly that they now face closure. They community is 800 strong and now faces relocation. The problem is that all the other schools locally are close to full or over subscribed. The knock on effect of closing a school will be felt far and wide. I urge you to support the school, and sign the petition.
Thank you.

Yes. I will sign the petition. It sounds like they are not planning effectively for the future.

Our primary school closed down, and there are now massive difficulties locally getting siblings into the same school. It was poorly planned, and generally a stitch up.

Done! We are currently suffering school place woes due to over subscription, so to close a decent school in this climate seems insane. Best of luck Smile

That's is awful considering that the option for the people of Basildon and Pitsea includes two undersubscribed schools in special measures. What have these people been smoking?
