starting playgroup

My 2yr6mth dd has recently started at a lovely local playgroup 2 mornings a week. The first two sessions were fine - no crying, clinging etc - but the 3 times she has been since have been a disaster. She doesn't worry when I leave but seems to get upset quite shortly afterwards and can't be consoled. It's difficult for me to stay very long and ease her in gently as I also have a riotous 15-mth-old ds. Dd has said she doesn't want to go anymore (doesn't want to leave mummy) and I was going to ring and cancel her place today - but now she says she does want to go! Any ideas? Anyone been through anything similar? I just want to do the best for her and make sure she's happy. Thanks!

dd was a bit up and down to begin with and 5 sessions isn't that many to expect her to settle in, understand the timing and routines and build up trust. Send her today, unless you have good reason to think that she is genuinely unhappy, and ask the staff to distract her when she gets upset. Is there any one person to whom she relates best ?

Has she a comforter she can take? Or leave something of yours so she knows you are comign back?
