Does anybody know anything about Edgeborough Prep?

A friend of mine is considering it for her DS. It's not clear from the website how academic it is. She has the option of the academic Guildford prep schools but likes the 'country' feel of Edgeborough.

My understanding from a colleague who is a parent of two children there that the status of the parents is important. He sometimes feel that he stands out driving his small older car. It doesn't bother him doing the school run, but it may bother others.

God Trinity, this is awful. I am terribly old, but back in the day, my school used to use Edgeborough's sports field. Everyone drove old bangers back then. In fact, having a new car was considered to be rather nasty. That's how I'd approach it if anyone looked down their noses at your colleague for having an older car. Money is not necessarily related to class. And above all, it is horribly lower class to make judgements based on an uninformed assessment of the state of someone else's bank account. Please tell your colleague to put flyers with this information on under the windscreen wipers of all those nasty new flash cars.

Trinity has admitted working in another local (rival?) school so please take that post with a pinch of salt. I have three at Edgeborough, all happy and thriving. We mix with people we like, not based on status (or cars). I think I know to whom she refers - interesting that he sends his kids to Edgeborough, not the school they work at?? Can't be so bad, after all!

Its no hot-house but seems to deliver a balanced batch of scholarships to a range of good senior schools. All-round is the phrase they use. UK Maths Trust results this year smashed previous medal tally so something is working for them.

Hello, I have just started working at Edgeborough and saw this thread. I wanted to mention that the school is really friendly, I was a little concerned beforehand as it has a grand driveway and, yes, there are 4 wheel drive cars there, but it is in the middle of the countryside. The teachers are fantastic and really approachable. The parents I've met have been very kind and thoughtful. I'm really enjoying being there and the facilities and opportunities for the children are second to none.
