Grammar books for 11+ exam

My DD is taking the Essex eleven plus in September and I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions of a book or other learning tool (website/app etc) that would have all of the grammatical terms - antonyms, concrete nouns, homophones etc etc that come up in an easy to learn format. She is practising at home with the BondOnline website so any advice would be very gratefully received. Many thanks

I haven't tried any of their 11 plus books, but have been really happy with the quality of their other titles. Worth a peek.

Again no direct 11+ experience, but really like their range in terms of focused revision.

Have you discovered the Elevenplusexams.co.uk website. It has lots of useful info, plus you can purchase books and resources relevant to the area you live in.

Sadly, there isn't too much out there, that's specific to the rather unique format of the CSSE Essex English exam and there doesn't appear to be anything in the elevenplusexams.co.uk online shop.

The Bond Guide to 11+ English can be very useful in clarifying and then providing little tests in areas such as grammatical terms ie synonyms, antonyms, homophone, homographs etc. For the more general stuff, like literary devices, the internet is an amazing source of definition then it's fairly easy to make your own little tests up, in the same format as the CSSE English, ie get your DC to identify a concrete noun, abstract noun, irony etc.
For more CSSE style English exams, this is an amazing site...

Synonyms and antonyms are really for the VR test

Here's a little online test to see if your DC can identify the CSSE literary devices

..and one for grammar

Have fun!

Hello piggywig,

just wanted to know whether doing independent school maths tests are useful for csse maths?
