Can anyone explain to me what this levels thing is ? my ds 1 tells me he has got 10 in level 2 and is on level 3 - but I am afraid I have no idea what this means!

Hangs head in shame............

I don't understand the 10, but Level 2B is the level the Government expects most children to reach at KS1, Level 2A is better than level 2B, Level 2C is not as good, and Level 3 is doing very well; I think that's the level the Government expects most children to reach by the end of Year 4.

Year 2 children are expected to get a level 2B by the end of year 2 which would mean they are a secure level 2.
2A is higher and then it goes to level 3. Some children do get a level 3 in Year 2 and that would mean they are above average.
What test did he get 10 on?
